Phiona has just completed competition in the 2012 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey. Playing in the most prestigious team chess tournament in the world, Phiona finished with a record of three wins, three draws and three losses in nine games. Her performance earned her the title WCM (Woman Candidate Master). Phiona is the first titled female player in Ugandan history. 7.25.12
Phiona Mutesi finished first in qualifying among Ugandan women for the 2012 Chess Olympiad. She will be competing in the Olympiad from Aug. 27-Sept. 10 in Istanbul, Turkey. Her results will be updated here when the tournament begins. |
